17.01 DT
Chargers
By Greg Kellogg
|

17.02 WR
Mark Clayton (R)
By Houston | Pitzer
|

17.03 PK
John Carney
By Jim Butler
This selection was for a kicker
who is on a very sporadic team. Last seasons his point ranges in
games was anywhere from 1 to 20 points. I am counting on Shayne
Graham to be the steady point producer at kicker with Carney
chipping in with his few big games of the season he tends to
have.
|

17.04 PK
Chris Brown
By Brady Tinker
Chris Brown can kick and I believe his progress is right on par
with the rest of his Texans teammates. I think this is the
break out year for the Texans offense and Brown will follow.
A nice back-up kicker.

17.05 DT
Jets
By Tony Holm
I really like the Jets D this
year over more than a lot of the D’s taken already. They are
tough up the middle, have a multitude of pass rushers, are
aggressive and are a D on their way up.
On the line, Shaun Ellis with
11 sacks on the left side coupled with John Abraham with 9.5
from the right is a deadly duo. Lance Legree came over from
the Giants and he can play either DT or DE which really opens
up what the Jets can do up front. At LB there is defensive
rookie of the year, Jon Vilma in the middle with 107 tackles
in 2004! If that wasn’t enough, ROLB Eric Barton laid down
107 tackles of his own!
In the secondary the Jets have
the aggressive Donnie Abraham at Left Corner (ex Buccaneer)
and veteran Reggie Tongue at Strong Safety but the up and
comer, Eric Coleman at Free Safety, a second year guys drafted
by the Jets, managed 100 tackles of his own.
I like the balance of very
talented youth and solid veterans on this unit and my belief
is that they will raise their game yet another notch this year
as more of their already proven upper echelon youth mature
into defensive superstars.
As they’ve already been
drafted, look for the Chargers to take another step forward
with their talented youth this season if you’re looking for
another solid sleeper play.

17.06 WR
Jurevicius
By Jerome Hickerson
This was one of those FAD “defensive” selections, intended
to protect myself from the potential disastrous injury that can
destroy a FAD season.
I believe that Jurevicius will be healthy this season (barring a
new injury) and that he will win the #2 role for the Seahawks.
If
Jackson
goes down with injury for any length of time, I fully anticipate
that Jurevicius will step up and perform well. I am expecting a
good season for Jurevicius and would likely have drafted him
here even if I were not covering my earlier selection of
Jackson
.

17.07 PK
Lawrence Tynes
By Del Pilar | Bonini
Who
We Took and Why:
We drafted Tynes here because he was the most appealing
place kicker remaining on the board. He was up-and-down last
season, but showed flashes of promise. In Kansas City’s
high-scoring offense, we should be guaranteed at least minimal
production each week.
Other
Candidates Considered:
New York Jets rookie PK Mike Nugent, who was selected a few
picks later, was on our radar. We felt Tynes was the safer
option, but Nugent’s booming leg did make us think twice
before drafting the Chiefs kicker.
Current
Strategy:
Now
that we have secured our place kicker needs, our strategy will
turn to drafting an upside defensive team to be our No. 2 unit
with our final selection.

17.08 RB
Chuck Fason (R)
By Tim Hollar
As some of you may or may not know, my brother John Holler
covers the Vikings for "Viking Update".
Well, he happened to call on Tuesday and, as usual, we talked
football among other things. I had seen a tidbit
quoting him earlier in the week in the FF Mastermind Quick Bits
about Vikings RB Ciatrick Fason, so I asked him about it.
He said that Vikes HC Mike Tice loves Fason and that he, not
Mewelde Moore, will ultimately be the primary reserve to Michael
Bennett. He went on to say that the coaching staff
views Moore as a 3rd down back, while Fason is cut from the Moe
Williams cloth. As in better suited to being an every down
back.
Trusting that Michael Bennett will get hurt as he has been want
to do, I took the juice from my brother, made the trade and
selected the rookie from Florida. Secondary reasons
for taking Fason included wanting a Viking on my team and the
thought that since I love the composition of every other
position on my team - and hope to win the FAD - I might as well
swing for the fence with this last RB rather than taking the
conservative route with Anthony Thomas.

17.09 PK
Billy Cundiff
by Shannon O'Leary
In
this draft I find myself selecting my 3rd kicker of
the draft. The recent trade of Matt Stover necessitates this
act. The
Dallas
kicker was not all that stellar last year, but then again
neither was the Cowboys themselves. I can’t conceive that
Parcells will allow that to happen two years in row.
Since
the Cowboys offense should improve this year, I see Cundiff’s
numbers improving too. If you look at the winning team in the
FAD last year, they only got points out of the 2nd
kicker 3 times so a back up kicker may not get that much work.
In Cundiff I am looking for a few big weeks but will be counting
more on Longwell. |

17.10 PK
Mike Nugent (R)
By Dolfi | Walls
Walls’
Take - Rookie!!
Yeah!! Kicker!!! Woo-hoo!!! – OK, so we take a rookie
kicker. Take it from a Penn State grad, it breaks my heart to
take a Buckeye fresh from Columbus, but hey – better him than
Clarett, right?
With this pick,
we decide that we can live with one defense, but know that at
least two kickers are a must. We have a very good defense, and a
good kicker. But, kickers can get hurt, entire defenses don’t
(if the entire Eagles defense gets hurt, we won’t be in this
league – we’ll both be dead). Anyway – in a league where
your best players start each week, this was the right pick.
Nugent will be
the kicker all year for the Jets. I think the Jets will have a
good defense next year; and with Herm Edwards as coach, make
smart decisions in the red zone. The Jets are a quirky offensive
team. They can surprise you. I believe , however, that the Jets
are not good enough to score a bunch of TDs and will settle for
3 points quite often…which is good for Mike Nugent, and us.
Take a chance on Nugent later in your draft, he will do very
well for you.

17.12 PK
Todd Peterson
By TC Cannon
Peterson was the selection for PK2 because I really prefer
having at least two legs from winning teams on the roster. I'm
not a Falcon fan, and would not be surprised if they were a
non-playoff team. Yet.. many others see them as high scoring
contenders. We will see.
As for Todd Peterson, he seems an average PK, who will have the opportunity
to have a few 4 FG games. It's a roll of the dice. Yes sir. |
